Standard Lexicon
These are some standard quizbowl terms which you may hear in practice or at tournaments.
- Packet — A round of quizbowl questions.
- Packet submission — Almost all tournaments require teams to submit a packet in addition to an entry fee; these packets are edited and used at the tournament; teams get a bye during the round their packet is read.
- ACF — Academic Competition Federation, a quizbowl alliance/company which hosts four collegiate tournaments each year at many sites nationwide: Fall, Winter, Regionals, and Nationals (in increasing order of difficulty). Considered the highest-caliber tournaments in terms of both question quality and competition.
- NAQT — National Academic Quiz Tournaments, a quizbowl company which writes questions for many high school and college tournaments. Hosts sectional and national tournaments for colleges.
